Blogtober 2017 | Day 4 – Date

The first thing I thought of for this prompt was the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. You know … “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date!”. These days, I seem to be late for pretty much everything. It’s remarkable when I manage to arrive somewhere on time … but it’s usually because I aim to leave much earlier than I really need to!

When the little man first came along, we soon discovered that it takes about half an hour longer to pack the car than it did before. It takes some time to get used to. After a while, I started pre-packing things the night before, when we needed to get somewhere we really couldn’t be late to. This has helped a lot, but sometimes we’re still late!

I’ve managed to get the packing ritual down to ten minutes (max), and it makes such a difference (and minimises my stress!) before a drive. I’ve yet to travel longer than an hour with J in the car, so it will be interesting (and probably stressful!) packing the car for a longer trip … although, I guess for that you get the benefit of being able to pack a bit at a time, to make sure you take everything you need for a holiday!

Speaking of dates, we have a very important one coming up … it’s J’s christening soon! I’m so excited to dress him up in his little waistcoat, with tiny tailored pants and a spiffy white shirt that looks like a miniature clone of his daddy’s work shirts! Thinking of this special occasion makes me think of all the important dates that are in our immediate (and near and distant!) futures, with little J. His first Christmas, his first birthday (and every other birthday!), his first day of school … we have so much to look forward to.

Happy blogging!
