I’m super excited to take part in my first daily challenge! Blogtober popped up on my radar at just the right time, when I found myself in a slump with my blog productivity. I’d been on a roll and suddenly everything was on top of me, with so many things to do and not enough time to do them! I made a spreadsheet to keep track of guest posts, planned blogs, and various other blog-related tasks, so now I’m getting back on top of things.
I guess that brings me to the first thing I can tell you about me: I’m organised. I love planning – holidays, parties, degrees, purchases, renovations, everything! I started this blog because I kept encountering conflicting “mummy advice” and wanted a place to share my thoughts and experiences as a new mum. My passion is writing, and I am thoroughly enjoying producing content for this blog.
Let’s see … a bit more about me. I am a 30-something, first time mum to a beautiful baby boy, who is almost 8 months old. I am constantly amazed by his inquisitive nature and the clever things he does. He brings me so much joy, and I doubt even my writing talents can truly capture the heart-bursting emotion that swirls within me when I look at his gorgeous little face.
I love studying, and have undertaken degrees in publishing, arts/IT, project management, and astronomy. I’m excited to be starting a degree in digital media next year! I have always loved learning, and I enjoy putting my learning into practice. I’ve actually got another blog about writing/publishing/instructional design, here: http://spellboundpress.wordpress.com.
Some of my other passions include dance, musical theatre, photography, and colouring. I started learning ballet, tap and jazz at the age of 6, and finally completed the syllabi in my mid-twenties (including a teaching qualification). When I ran out of grades to learn, I auditioned for a community musical theatre production of A Chorus Line and landed the role of Diana Morales. It was so much fun! Since then, I have played Victoria the White Cat in Cats, and performed as a featured dancer in productions of Jerry’s Girls and The Wizard of Oz, and as part of the nuns choir in The Sound of Music. I was even asked to be the choreographer for the latter, and it was the best experience!
With photography, I had always enjoyed taking pictures, but I was so bad at it! A common critique of my photos was always “what are you trying to take a photo of?”; my subject was never clear. I have enjoyed learning how to use a DSLR and improving my photography skills. I’ve still got plenty to learn, and am looking forward to one day taking much nicer photos!
I’ve always liked the concept of Halloween, but it’s not really a big thing here in Australia. People go “Trick or Treating”, but it’s not that common, and there aren’t a lot of houses around with Halloween decorations, or many events celebrating the occasion. This is partly why I’m excited to participate in Blogtober! This year, I’ve set myself the task of taking a cool Halloween-themed pic of my little man. Let’s see how I go!
Mini Mummi Blogger 🌺
Mini Mummi Blogger is a first time mummy to a beautiful baby boy. Currently on maternity leave, she is looking to put her writing/publishing experience to good use through her blog, helping other mummies navigate through the wealth of often conflicting (and, sometimes, even discouraging) information out there about pregnancy and motherhood. She believes that every mummy knows what’s best for her own baby – even first time mums!
So, it’s a new year and you have a new baby at home, which…
