Accepting the Blogger Recognition Award

The excitement that I am overcome with, when nominated for these blogger awards is unexplainable. It is truly an amazing honor. I want to give a huge “Thank You!” to Amy Tyrrell with her blog Yukon Mama of 4 for nominating my blog for the “Bloggers Recognition Award.”

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication put into their blog. This is an amazing award to be presented with, because from my experience starting a new blog is, “No walk in the park.”

It requires tons of energy, time, patience and a wide variety of skills–some of which you might have to learn. So, receiving this award is a great honor and each blogger who receives it should be proud of what they have accomplished, but should also remember this isn’t the finish line, just a milestone. There is always more growth and knowledge to obtain. Take this award wear it with pride and keep building your blog.

What is Yukon Mama of 4 and who is Amy Tyrrell?

Great questions! Glad you asked!

Amy is from Northern Canada, where she lives with her husband and four kids! Amy and her husband, Ben, have a shared passion for growth and change; they love seeing the best in people and helping to ‘draw out the goodness’.

Amy is the type of person who goes out of their way to help someone with a problem. As a mum, she believes that she can help people by sharing her experiences, and by listening to their problems and showing them love. Her blog, Yukon Mama of 4, is aimed at giving hope and love to other mums who are struggling with life as a mum, or ‘wading through the chaos’ or even ‘fighting their way through a fitness journey’. Amy’s faith in God helps her to stay grounded, through His guidance and love.

My blog’s story:

My name is Romina, and I am a first time mummy to a beautiful little boy. As a new mum, I was finding it difficult to apply conflicting advice … Between parenting books, listening to other mums’ (recent and otherwise) experiences, and hearing from midwives and other baby experts, I soon realised I had to decide what was best for me and my baby.

I’m currently on maternity leave, and am looking to put my writing/publishing experience to good use, helping other mummies navigate through the wealth of often conflicting (and, sometimes, even discouraging) information out there about pregnancy and motherhood. I believe that every mummy knows what’s best for her own baby – even first time mums! And so, Mini Mummi Blogger was born! There’s a lot of information out there for new mothers – some encouraging and some kind of panic-inducing – and it’s often difficult to wade through it all to figure out what’s useful and what’s not. I created my blog in the hopes of helping new and not-so-new mummies be confident in their mothering abilities, and know that it’s okay to ask for help or decide which advice is suitable for her and her baby.

My advice to new bloggers:

Here are my best tips for new bloggers:

  1. Make the most of social media: Create a Facebook page, an Instagram feed, a Twitter feed, and use any other social media platform you think may be useful. Social media promotion can introduce traffic to your blog, which is a harder platform to draw people to quickly and on mass.
  2. Record your ideas: It is really useful to have a place (notebook, spreadsheet, phone app, whatever it may be) to write down any ideas for blog posts, social media posts, blog improvements, etc. that can help you grow your audience. That way, whenever you’re stuck for something to do, you’ve got a list of ideas ready and waiting.
  3. Make connections: Reaching out to other bloggers and even members of your audience will help you not only to grow your blog, but also give you ideas for things to write about or create relationships for collaborating.

My nominations are:

  1. Lucy from Muffin top mummy
  2. Bridget from Bridie by the Sea
  3. Kelly from and Jacob makes three
  4. Helen from Natural Beauty Baby
  5. Jessica from Jessica Laska blog
  6. Annette from 3 Little Buttons
  7. Stephanie from Relaxed Momma

  13. Aby from You Baby Me Mummy
  14. Emma from Wanderlust and Wet Wipes
